CONSULTING SERVICES

It's easy to get lost in documentary storytelling!
Let me help you see the forest through the trees.

Whether you’re just digging in or refining a near-finished piece, I can help shape your story. I offer an outside perspective to help you move forward with confidence - clarifying structure, strengthening emotional arcs, and identifying what’s working and what isn’t.With me, you get both EDIT and STORY insights!

HOW WE START

I take on a limited number of projects at a time, so the first step is a free confidential consultation - an initial look at a portion of the cut and a short call to share first impressions. This step includes a bit of context on where you are in the process and helps us both understand what the film needs and whether it’s the right fit to move forward. If we continue, I have an hourly rate for story consulting. We'll get more specific about structure, character, and editorial solutions.

WORKING TOGETHER

I can offer a range of support, depending on your needs:

  • Detailed feedback on your cut

  • A deeper story consultation, considering raw materials

  • Tailored solutions for shaping your story

  • Creating a story map to guide the path forward

  • Director/Editor collaboration insights

  • Ongoing story/edit collaboration

  • Guidance through the finishing process

About

I consider myself a storyteller first. What forged those instincts is a story in itself.During my first week as a news intern in Baltimore, the September 11th attacks unfolded, and I witnessed history from inside a working newsroom. I was eager to learn every role on the live production side, but kept gravitating toward the edit bays during breaks. After graduating college, I joined them as an Editor. Cutting feature news stories with an award-winning team developed the speed and storytelling instincts that still shape my work today.A few years later, I transitioned into documentary, joining A&E's Random 1 series. This was the first of many collaborations with director John Chester. Over the next two decades, I worked across documentaries and commercial post-production in the DC area.In 2017, I moved to California to work on my fourth project with John Chester, entrusted to help tell his story in The Biggest Little Farm, where he was not only the director, but also the farmer! With the series that followed, I stepped into the role of Co-Executive Producer & Supervising Editor, discovering that my passion for storytelling extends well beyond the edit chair. Guiding editors, shaping story arcs, and building systems for complex narratives proved equally fulfilling.Today I work remotely from the Los Angeles area, collaborating on documentary projects with directors and companies including The Kennedy/Marshall Company, White Horse Productions, and FarmLore Films, with teams that span the country.I live in Moorpark, CA with my husband, two daughters, and our foxhound. Outside of work, I love travel, time in nature, and family genealogy, including a recent discovery: my great-grandfather's 16mm films dating back to the 1920s, some narrated in his own voice. Turns out documentary storytelling runs in the family.
